Overview
Mandura is one of the herbs traditionally used in Ayurveda for liver disorders. Mandura (Iron slag) is the rust or oxidized residue of iron. It is considered an Upadhatu (sub-metal) of iron. Mandura Bhasma is one of the most important preparations for Pandu Roga (anemia) and Yakrit-Pliha Vikara (hepato-splenic disorders). It is lighter and easier to digest than Loha Bhasma. It is also useful in edema, skin diseases, and worm infestations. The text describes different qualities of Mandura and methods of its preparation. Verses: 40-42.
