Vriddha Gangadhara Choorna

An expanded version of Gangadhara Choorna with additional astringent and carminative herbs, used primarily for dysentery (Pravahika).

Vriddha Gangadhara Choorna — Overview

Vriddha Gangadhara Choorna is an expanded version of the simpler Gangadhara formula, adding herbs like Aralu (Syonaka), Sunthi, Balaka, Patha, Vatsaka, mango seed, Ativisha and Lajjalu to the core astringents. All drugs are taken in equal parts, powdered and mixed.

It is given internally with madhu (honey) and tandulodaka (rice wash water) and is used primarily for dysentery (Pravahika). In Bhaishajyaratnavali, Lajjalu is replaced by Manjishta. The formulation does not appear in the original Sahasrayoga and has been added in later editions.
