Chukkum Tippalyadi Kashaya

A decoction of Sunthi, Pippali, Maricha, Triphala, Krishna Jeeraka, Daruharidra, Methika and Chopchini given with honey for syphilis (Phiranga roga).

Phirangiroga Chukkum Tippalyadi Kashaya — Overview

Phirangiroga Chukkum Tippalyadi Kashaya is specifically indicated for Phiranga roga (syphilis — a 'foreign disease' first described after European contact). It contains Sunthi, Pippali, Maricha, Triphala, Krishna Jeeraka, Daruharidra and Methika in equal parts, with Chopchini (Smilax china) equal to the sum of all the others.

Chopchini is the principal anti-syphilitic drug in post-classical Ayurveda. The decoction is administered with honey, which serves as a yogavahi carrier for the heating, penetrating pungent spices combined with Chopchini.
