Mandoora Vataka — Overview

Mandoora Vataka, also known as Pranada Gutika, is an iron-based (Mandura) pill formulation prepared by boiling the purified iron oxide with cow's urine (Gomutra) along with Swarnamakshika, Daruharidra bark, Chavya, Pippali moola, Devadaru, and the nine-drug combination Vyoshadi Navakam (Trikatu, Triphala, Chitraka, Mustha, and Vidanga) until solidified.

It is administered internally with buttermilk and is primarily indicated for Pandu (anemia), Kushta (skin diseases), Sodha (edema), Kamala (jaundice), Prameha (urinary disorders), Pleeha (splenomegaly), Arshas (hemorrhoids), Agnimandya, Aruchi, and Urusthambha. The same formulation appears in Bhaishajyaratnavali, Bhavaprakasa, and Ashtangahridaya.
