Kutajarishta
Fermented decoction of Kutaja root, Mridwika, Madhooka Pushpa and Kashmarya used for all fevers, diarrhea and digestive disorders.
Kutajarishta — Overview
Kutajarishta is a classical fermented decoction (Arishta) prepared from Kutaja root (Holarrhena antidysenterica), Mridwika (raisins), Madhooka flowers and Kashmarya. The herbs are decocted down to one-quarter, cooled, then fermented with jaggery and Dhataki flowers in a sealed earthen pot buried underground for one month.
It is primarily indicated for all types of fever (Sarva Jwara), chronic diarrhea with blood (Raktatisara), malabsorption syndrome (Grahani), and acts as a digestive stimulant (Agni Vardhaka). The fermentation imparts both palatability and extended shelf life while preserving the astringent, anti-diarrheal action of Kutaja.
