Kushmanda Rasayana II
Classical ash gourd rasayana attributed to the Ashwini Kumaras, indicated for cough, fever, wasting, and as a cognitive and strength tonic.
Kushmanda Rasayana [II] — Overview
Kushmanda Rasayana [II] is a second, more elaborate version of the ash-gourd rejuvenative, traditionally attributed to the Ashwini twins. It uses Pakwa Kushmanda Swarasa (1 tulaa) and Sita (sugar — 1 tulaa) as the base, with Kushmanda residue first steamed and then fried in one prastha of ghee.
Prakshepa Dravyas are added — Kana (Pippali), Sunthi, and Jeeraka (2 pala each); Trijataka, Dhanyaka, and Maricha (half pala each) — followed, once cool, by half a prastha of honey. It is indicated in Kasa (cough), Hidhma (hiccups), Jwara (fever), Swasa (asthma), Raktapitta (bleeding disorders), Kshata (chest injury), Kshaya (wasting), and as a Vakshobalaprada (chest-strengthening), Medha, Smriti, and Bala prada (intellect, memory, and strength promoter).
