Rejuvenative electuary made from ash gourd (Kushmanda) juice and jaggery, used for wasting, bleeding disorders, and respiratory conditions.

Kushmanda Rasayana [I] — Overview

Kushmanda Rasayana [I] is a rejuvenative electuary prepared from ripe ash-gourd juice (Pakwa Kushmanda Swarasa — 1 adhaka / 256 tola) and jaggery (1 adhaka) cooked to Lehya consistency. Pieces of Kushmanda left behind after expressing the juice are fried in 16 pala of ghee and added back to the preparation.

Prakshepa Dravyas — Ela, Lavanga, Maricha, Ajaji, Viswabheshaja (Sunthi), Tamalapatra, and Pippali (1 pala each) — and 8 pala of sugar are stirred in. It is indicated in Kshaya (wasting), Asrigdara (menorrhagia), Raktapitta (bleeding disorders), Kasa (cough), Swasa (asthma), Aruchi (anorexia), Arshas (hemorrhoids), and as a general Rasayana.
