Kukkuta Lavana
A medicated salt-preparation cooked with chicken meat, coconut milk, Panchakola decoction, Hingu, Trikatu and Jeeraka, used for Vata Gulma (Vata-type abdominal mass/gas).
Kukkuta Lavana — Overview
Kukkuta Lavana is a medicated salt preparation cooked with black hen meat. Panchakola (1 pala each) is first boiled in eight times water and reduced to one-fourth (Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya). To this decoction, 16 pala of Kukkuta Mamsa (cleaned hen, without feathers, bile, intestines, limbs and head), 16 pala of Samudra Lavana, 4 pala coconut milk, 2 pala each of Tila Taila or Narikela Taila and Ghrita, plus 1 karsha each of Hingu, Trikatu and two types of Jeeraka are added and boiled on mild fire for about 90 hours.
It is administered internally with buttermilk early in the morning and is indicated in Vata Gulma — Vata-predominant abdominal masses and colicky distension.
