Jeerakadyarishta

A fermented preparation of Jeeraka decoction with jaggery, Dhataki, Sunthi, Jatiphala and Chaturjataka, used for postpartum disorders, malabsorption and diarrhea.

Jeerakadyarishta — Overview

Jeerakadyarishta is a fermented carminative tonic prepared from 200 pala of Jeeraka boiled in 4 drona of water and reduced to one-fourth. After cooling, 300 pala of Guda, 16 pala of Dhataki, 2 pala of Sunthi, and one pala each of Jatiphala, Mustha, Chaturjataka, Yavani, Takkola and Devapushpa (Lavanga) are added.

Sealed in earthenware and fermented underground for one month, it is then filtered and preserved. It is indicated for Sutika roga (postpartum disorders), Grahani (malabsorption), Atisara (diarrhea) and Agni vikara (digestive disturbances), making it especially useful for new mothers.
