Gopyadi Ghritam
A Kerala-tradition medicated ghee prepared with Krishna Sariba, sandalwood, and the bark of the five sacred fig trees (Nalpamaram).
Gopyadi Ghritam — Overview
Gopyadi Ghritam is a Kerala-tradition medicated ghee. The paste uses Nannari (Krishna Sariba), Utpala kanda, Madhuka, Chandana, Kushta, Nalpamaranam Mottum (the bark-shoots of the four sacred fig trees — Vata, Ashwattha, Plaksha, and Udumbara), and Usira — one tola of each.
It is cooked with one part cow's ghee using Durva juice (one part) and milk (four parts) as the liquid medium, yielding a cooling, rakta-prasadana (blood-soothing) preparation.
