Draksharishta
A fermented tonic made from Draksha (raisins) decoction with jaggery and aromatic herbs, used for chest injury, wasting, cough, asthma and throat disorders.
Draksharishta — Overview
Draksharishta is a mild, palatable fermented tonic prepared from 50 pala of Draksha (raisins) boiled in 2 drona of water reduced to one-fourth. After cooling, 200 pala of Guda and one pala each of Twak, Ela, Patra, Kesara, Priyangu, Maricha, Krishna (Pippali) and Vidanga are added.
The preparation is sealed in earthenware, buried underground for one month, then filtered and preserved. It is indicated for Urahkshata (chest injury), Kshaya (wasting/consumption), Kasa (cough), Swasa (asthma) and Gala Roga (throat disorders), and acts as Balya (tonic) and Malasodhaka (mild laxative).
