Dasamoolavalehya — Overview

Dasamoolavalehya is a respiratory and Vata-pacifying electuary built on a decoction of Dasamoola together with Bala, Eranda, Bharangi, Bhumyamalaki, Vasa, Rasna, Chavya, Pashanabheda, Devadaru, Pippali moola, Chitraka, Karkatakasringi, Triphala, Loha, Kachora, radish and Poushkara (1 pala each) boiled in 1 drona of water to prepare the Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya. Half a tula of jaggery is added to form the Lehya paka, then finished with Prakshepa dravyas — Chaturjataka, Mustha, Trikatu, Jeeraka dwaya, Yavani and Dhanyaka — and an equal quantity of sugar.

After cooling, 50 tola of honey is added. The preparation is taken internally early in the morning with wholesome (Pathya) diet and is indicated in cough, asthma, chronic rhinitis, anorexia, throat obstruction, all Vata disorders, wasting and abdominal tumors. It is traditionally attributed to Maharshi Nimi.
