Bilwadi Lehya
Electuary prepared from Bilwa root decoction and jaggery used for vomiting, anorexia, digestive weakness, and respiratory complaints.
Bilwadi Lehya — Overview
Bilwadi Lehya is an electuary prepared by first making a Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya (decoction reduced to one-fourth) from Bilwa root (half adhaka / 128 tola) and half drona of water. This decoction is then cooked with 16 pala of jaggery to Lehya consistency.
The finished paka is enriched with Prakshepa Dravyas — Mustha, Dhanyaka, Jeeraka, Ela, Twak, Kesara, and Trikatu (one karsha each). It is indicated in Chardi (vomiting), Aruchi (anorexia), Mandagni (weak digestive fire), Swasa (asthma), and Praseka (excessive salivation).
