Ashwagandhadi Ghrita

A rejuvenating medicated ghee centered on Ashwagandha, used for wasting, joint disorders, chronic fever, and as a nourishing tonic.

Aswagandhadi Ghrita — Overview

Aswagandhadi Ghrita is one of the most elaborate rejuvenating ghrita formulations in the Parisishta section. The paste combines Trijataka, Trikatu, Rasna, Madhuka, Lajjalu, Usira, Kshira Kakoli, Ajamoda, Jeeraka, Draksha, Manjishta, and Saindhava. The decoction is built on Ashwagandha, Bala, Gokshura, Punarnava, Satavari, Naga Bala, Guduchi, Yava, Masha, and Yashti, with milk added.

After cooking, the ghee is matured in a heap of grains for fifteen days — the text calls it equivalent to Ambrosia. It is used for a remarkable range of chronic and debilitating conditions: Kshaya (wasting), Vatarakta (gout), joint stiffness, sciatica, hemorrhoids, chronic fever, burning sensation, hair loss, graying, infertility, migraine, and as a general Brimhana (nourishing) tonic.
