Arimeda Twagadi Taila — Overview

Arimeda Twagadi Taila is one of the most elaborate formulations in the Taila Prakarana, with a Kalka of over forty herbs at one karsha each — including Yashti, Trijata, Manjishta, Khadira, Lodhra, Katphala, Kshirivriksha bark, Arimeda bark, Mustha, Aguru, Sweta and Rakta Chandana, Karpoora, Jati, Takkola, Jatamamsi, Dhataki, Gairika, Pippali, Padmakesara, Kumkuma, Laksha, Bilwa patra, Devadaru, Palasa, Haridra and Daruharidra, Priyangu, Arjuna, Sarapunkha, Triphala, Pushkaramoola, Kantakari and Madanaphala.

The Drava Dravya uses 100 pala of fresh Arimeda bark along with 100 pala of the Nyagrodhadi group (Nyagrodha, Udumbara, Aswattha and Plaksha), boiled into a Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya. The oil is multi-purpose — used as Nasya, Pana, Gandusha, Vasti and Abhyanga — and is indicated in Mukha roga (oral diseases), especially Danta roga (dental diseases) such as gum disease, loose teeth and mouth ulcers.
