Ananda Rasa
A mercurial pill with multiple metals and Vatsanabhi, used in Sitanga Sannipata (cold-type tridoshic fever).
Ananda Rasa — Overview
Ananda Rasa is a complex mercurial preparation indicated specifically for Sitanga Sannipata, a cold-type tridoshic fever. It contains Ananda (Vatsanabhi), Hingula, Gandhaka, Hara Virya (Parada), Talaka, Tikshnam (Tikshna Loha), Tamram, Naga, and Vanga — one part each.
The drugs are pounded with Triphala and Ardraka Kashaya, then processed with sudation (Sweda) using Parpata Kashaya in a Dola Yantra for one day. They are then steeped with snake bile (Sarpa Pitta) and rolled into pills the size of one Gunja bija. During treatment, patients are advised to take Takra (buttermilk), Dadhi Odana (curd rice), and coconut water (Narikela Jala).
