Ajamamsa Ghrita

A nourishing medicated ghee prepared with goat meat, Jeevaniya gana herbs, Rasna, Dasamoola, Satavari and milk, used internally, as enema and as nasal therapy for neurological and debility disorders.

Ajamamsa Ghrita — Overview

Ajamamsa Ghrita is a deeply nourishing medicated ghee whose defining ingredient is goat meat (Aja Mamsa), prized in Ayurveda for building tissue and pacifying vata. The paste is made from herbs of the Jeevaniya gana (life-promoting group), combined with Rasna, Dasamoola and Satavari, each one pala in quantity. Kulattha, Badara and Yava are added two kudava each, and half a tula of goat meat is cooked with one drona of water, reduced to one fourth (Chaturdhavasishta Kashaya). This decoction is then combined with one adhaka of milk and one adhaka of cow's ghee along with the herbal paste to prepare the ghrita.

The finished ghee is versatile — used internally as a drink (Pana), as enema (Vasti) and as nasal therapy (Nasya). It is indicated in paralysis, head tremor (Sirokampa), uterine pain (Yoni vedana), groin pain (Vankshana vedana), whole-body disorders (Sarvanga roga), hemiplegia, splenic enlargement (Pleeha) and upward-moving vata (Urdhwa Vata).
