Shleshaka Kapha Disorders

When shleshaka kapha loses its unctuous and liquid qualities, it ceases to nourish the joint. Cracking and popping of joints indicates a lack of shleshaka kapha. When the kapha molecules are dried up, vata enters the joint space. Because vata is rough, the bone surface of the joint becomes dry and rough. Over time, crystals of calcium may begin accumulating in the joint space, creating pain and stiffness.

Disorders of shleshaka kapha include degenerative arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Excessive jogging and vigorous exercise can change the quality of shleshaka kapha and damage the joint. As a person ages, they may develop arthritis due to the natural decline of shleshaka kapha.
