Decreased Rasa Dhatu (Rasa Kshaya)
When rasa dhatu is depleted, it is called rasa kshaya. One cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is depleted rasa. Decreased rasa creates vata symptoms including dehydration, and is associated with deep-seated grief and sadness, which are primarily vata emotions.
Long-standing vata dosha in rasa dhatu can cause underdeveloped breast tissue in women due to the chronic drying effect. Shatavari ghee applied externally and taken internally may improve breast size within six months to one year. Excess vata in rasa also affects menstruation, potentially leading to cessation of menses. The quality and attributes of rasa dhatu are responsible for maintaining ovulation and menstruation.
To treat rasa dhatu depletion, soak five fresh dates in warm water overnight. Remove the seeds, blend with one-half cup warm milk, and drink in the early morning with no other food for two hours. Dates are nourishing and strengthening for rasa dhatu. For another nourishing drink, take one cup of grape juice with a pinch each of cardamom, ginger, and saffron.
