Depleted Fat Tissue (Meda Kshaya)

Extremely debilitated meda dhatu, or meda kshaya, manifests as spontaneous fractures due to the bones being unable to bear the body's weight. Emotionally, this imbalance creates insecurity, fear, and anxiety. Signs and symptoms of depleted fatty tissue include cracking of the joints, arthritic changes, and constipation.

When fat is depleted, the lumbosacral joint loses its protective fat cushion, weakening the joint and causing low backache. If the meda dhatu pulse at the fifth level shows vata, it confirms fat depletion. When a person with depleted fat craves meat and cheese, they should eat those foods as the craving reflects a genuine bodily need rather than an emotional desire.
