Depleted Ojas and Birth Defects
Depleted ojas may manifest as chromosomal defects in the fertilized ovum and can cause congenital anomalies. If the ojas of the baby is depleted, the child may be born with a defect in the heart, a cleft palate, an atrial septal defect, or a ventricle septal defect.
During pregnancy, ojas is unstable as it moves between the mother and the fetus. For this reason, it is considered beneficial for the mother to take ghee during pregnancy, because ghee helps stabilize ojas in the fetus and may thereby help prevent some of these chromosomal and structural defects.
